The third edition of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia promises to be every bit as spectacular as the 2011 event which saw Na Yeon Choi triumph to record her first victory on Malaysian soil.

With a total prize purse unchanged at US$ 1.9 million, the tournament will bring the very best in the women's game back to the spectacular Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club championship course to compete in the 72 hole no-cut event over four days.

With defending champion and recent US Women's Open Winner, Na Yeon Choi already confirmed to defend her title, the field will be made up of the leading 62 players from the Official Money List and 10 sponsor invites, including four players that triumph in the local and regional qualifiers on 4-5 September and two sponsor exemptions from Malaysia.

The tournament also received a welcome boost from principle sponsor Sime Darby Berhad who confirmed a three year extension of their sponsorship after this year's tournament, that will see the championship event remain at the KLGCC in Malaysia until 2015.

As part of Sime Darby's commitment to golf development in the region, it will work alongside the event organiser to build on the success of the previous two years and grow this annual event into one of the most prestigious ladies golf events in the Asia-Pacific region.

The tournameent is a great opportunity for female golfers in Malaysia and the region to have a chance to experience an LPGA championship event and get the top-level tournament practice that is so necessary to fulfill their ambitions on the world stage.

In addition, charitable initiatives will once again be the centerpiece of the tournament. Revenue from ticket sales will be donated to fund research at the tournament's selected charity, Cancer Awareness Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF).
